Lisa’s recent interview with Action Coach Bolton. Lisa was recently interviewed during the pandemic by Paul Limb from Action Coach Bolton and their roving film crew. The aim of the interview/video was to demonstrate how Lisa and her team has pivoted the business during the last year. With the help of her business coach Paul Limb, Lisa has been able to keep the business afloat during the pandemic. This has meant the company has not had to consider mothballing or closing down. That has enabled the company to keep the staff employed and giving the team some job security. It has been a very difficult year for most companies in the Uk. Taking handy hints and tips from Action Coach sessions has allowed the business to help other businesses in a similar situation. It has also helped us continue with an income to see the financial year out.
Perfect Construction will continue in the coming months to work with Paul Limb. We have mostly enjoyed the 90 day planning workshops and the regular one to ones. Action Coach have also offered a great network with other local businesses. We have been able to tap in to one and other and work closely and collaborate. This we have also found invaluable.

Samantha’s journey! How to go from catering to construction. 2020 has been a tough year for all of us with everyone having to adapt and change to the “new normal”. So how do you change from being a catering consultant to construction? This is my journey so far.
For myself this year has been a year of development and growth. From the age of 16 I have always worked in Hospitality. Working in various roles from Kitchen Porter up to Management. For the past 3 years working in Hospitality recruitment. When lockdown hit in March Perfect Recruitment made the decision to look at other sectors. This is when Perfect Construction was born.
With a new focus comes excitement, determination and a lot of learning and the main challenge I found was trying to shift my mindset. To say I wasn’t nervous would be a lie, but I am not one to shy away from a challenge.
I continue to read about different job roles and types within the industry. For me this is important I understand what different roles are and what falls under the job description. This helps me when I am matching candidates. I need to know what I am talking about and have the knowledge.
October I joined a Networking group for Construction and Property professionals. https://www.grafters-nw.co.uk/ I have thrown myself straight into networking. Attending 10 meetings a month. I also follow up with 1-2-1 meetings with members. This has been extremely valuable. Not only for growing Perfect Construction but for my own personal growth and understanding of the construction industry. Being able to have a meeting with professionals who have been in the construction game for many years has been fantastic. This has given me a lot more knowledge of the different businesses within the sector as well as being given recommendations on people to contact to help grow this side of the business. Networking for me is not just about trying to grow this business but about creating positive relationships with clients and being able to complement one another.
In summary a new focus has been challenging but rewarding. Reflecting on the year and how Perfect Construction has grown in a matter of months is amazing and makes me feel extremely proud of this achievement to date. My confidence in the industry has grown and I am excited to see what 2021 brings for Perfect Construction.

CSCS Card – Steps how to get this.
All construction site workers, no matter if you are a Labourer, Groundworker, or Site Supervisor must hold a valid CSCS card to be able to work on a construction site. Below are the steps you must take in order to obtain a Green CSCS card.
You will have taken and passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test in the last 2 years. Alongside completing the one of the following:
- QCF Level 1
- SCQF Level 4 award in Health & Safety in Construction Environment
- SCQF Level 5 REHIS Elementary Health & Safety Certificate
The three qualifications above are lifetime long and do not need renewing and are accepted when renewing your CSCS card after 5 years.
There are alternative qualifications that CSCS will accept when applying, these courses are often a quicker, more popular route to gaining your CSCS card. These qualifications can be obtained in one day, however, will need to be refreshed every 5 years, these are:
- CIBT Health & Safety Awareness Course
- NPORS Site Safety Awareness Course
To now apply for your CSCS Card you must –
- Email a copy of your qualifications certificate to – firstname.lastname@example.org
- Call 0344 994 4777 and pay the fee of £36 for your card.
- Your card will be posted to you once this has been approved.

working on the Construction side of the business and employed with Perfect Recruitment for over 3 years. I have worked from Resource to Permanent recruitment consultant within the Catering and hospitality sector. Recently I taken the opportunity within Perfect Recruitment to join the newly established construction arm of the business. Within the Building and Construction I am responsible for building relationships with potential clients. Also building our temporary workers, working on permanent vacancies and I will eventually grow the team for this sector. Whilst this is a new sector to me I am not adverse to learning. What I have done previously.
Working in the Hospitality industry since the age of 16, working in roles from Pot Wash up to Management. Studied Travel and Tourism at College and went on to University to study International Hospitality Management. I achieved a First Class Honours and I was very proud of this.
Prior to working with Perfect Recruitment I was employed within a management team. I saw the challenges of training and recruitment. Finding it difficult to recruit passionate staff within Hospitality lead me into my role at Perfect Recruitment. I knew with my knowledge of the industry and understanding the challenges around recruitment for Hospitality I could help both Clients and Candidates, matching both together successfully.
My greatest achievement is gaining a First class honours degree whilst working full time throughout University.

In my capacity Working as an Enterprise Advisor for Parklands High School it has become apparent more so than ever schools are in need of help for years 9 to 11. With so many events cancelled connecting our future workforce to prospective employers the schools are looking to collaborate with businesses for virtual events.
Here is how you can get involved! Lancashire Careers Hub : Unlocking the potential of Lancashire’s future workforce by connecting education and business. All secondary schools and FE colleges have to deliver a robust careers programme of information, advice and guidance under the Government’s National Careers Strategy. Lancashire Careers Hub provides free support to those in education and from the world of work who are delivering this.
We work with 154 secondary schools, colleges and special schools across Lancashire. The primary aim to improve the career prospects of thousands of young people.
How can you support: Become an Enterprise Adviser.
You will support and work with an individual school and their senior leadership teams in shaping the schools’ career strategy. They are there to provide an external voice and to be the schools’ critical and supportive adviser.
An Enterprise Adviser is also able to use their own network and contacts to support a school’s career activities, or some even chose to be directly involved in supporting career activities. Support with career events. Subject to your capacity, you could support with employer encounters at mock interviews, dragons den challenges, speed networking, careers talks. Provide work experience, placements or mock assessment sessions. Enterprise Coordinators can talk you through these and other options including the remote offer requested by schools currently.
